EV charging site check by postcode: demand, solar, payback
A first look at your site in under a minute. We look up your council's chargers and plug-in vehicles, the solar yield at your postcode, and run three usage scenarios through the funding models.
How this is worked out
- Your postcode gives your council (postcodes.io). Demand compares plug-in vehicles per public charger in your council with the median UK council.
- The suggested charger is the slowest standard charger that adds 40 miles within the visit length.
- Income scenarios use 0.5, 1 and 2 sessions per bay per day with the income calculator's example figures and your electricity cost.
- Solar yield comes from PVGIS for your location, for a south-facing array with 14% system losses.
- Traffic is the DfT annual average daily flow (all motor vehicles) at the nearest count points; passing traffic is a sign of demand for rapid charging, less so for long-stay sites.
- Your postcode is sent to postcodes.io and rounded coordinates to PVGIS. We do not store it.
