EV charging cost calculator: home, public and rapid (UK)
Enter the battery size and how far you charge it. We show the cost of that charge at today's typical UK prices, and at your own price per kWh if you know it.
Running chargers for customers?
Drivers compare your price with the public averages above. The income calculator shows what a price per kWh earns you after your electricity cost. Work out charging income
How this is worked out
- Energy into the battery is the battery size × (target − start) ÷ 100.
- Energy drawn from the supply adds charging losses: about 10% on AC chargers and 5% on rapid DC chargers.
- Cost is the energy drawn × the price per kWh. Per mile assumes 3.5 miles per kWh, a typical family EV.
- Home prices vary by region and tariff; off-peak EV tariffs can be much cheaper. Public prices vary by network and many offer subscriptions, so your price may differ from the average.
- These are estimates for planning, not a quote. Prices checked 17 October 2026.
