EV charger sizer: match charger speed to dwell time
Drivers who stay longer need slower, cheaper chargers. Pick a typical stay and the miles drivers want to add, and we suggest the slowest standard charger that does the job.
How this is worked out
- Energy per visit is the miles wanted divided by 3.5 miles per kWh.
- We pick the slowest charger in the list that delivers that energy within the stay, after charging losses. Slower chargers cost less to buy and connect, and use less of your site's supply.
- The total load assumes every bay charges at full power at once. Dynamic load management can share a smaller supply between chargers; an installer sizes this at the site survey.
- Presets are typical examples, not measured stays for your site. Use your own figure if you know it.
